Win10's Android application screen projection function is limited to Samsung phones

With the Windows 10 update launch in May 2020, Microsoft has introduced support for hosted applications. These applications are regarded as independent applications on Windows 10. They can access background tasks, notifications, tiles, etc.

According to Microsoft, the hosted application shares the same executable file with the parent host application. Still, its appearance and behavior on the system will be like an independent application, which allows the components in the application to behave like an independent Windows 10 program. The component will need a host process to perform the task. Microsoft now allows the Windows10 Your Phone application to use this hosted application service to stream your Android application to the PC. In this case, Your Phone application is hosting your Android application. The hosted Android application has its own start menu, tile Identity, and deeply integrated Windows 10 functions.

When the Your Phone application is configured, and the Samsung Galaxy device is connected to Windows 10, the Android application can be launched in a separate window. You can interact with multiple applications at the same time and work without using Your Phone application. This feature is being gradually introduced to Windows Insiders on the release preview channel, but there is a problem. This feature only supports Samsung phones.

It is reported that the screen mirroring function of the Your Phone application in Windows 10 is to mirror your Android screen to Windows 10 devices through Bluetooth low energy. This allows the phone to have a wider range of compatibility, but it is often not possible. Therefore, Microsoft said that it would give up Bluetooth low energy.
Consumption support makes the mirroring function exclusive to Samsung phones.

The Bluetooth low energy function is only supported on a few Windows machines, most of which are Microsoft and its partners' flagship products. By giving up support for Bluetooth low energy, the Windows 10 screen mirroring function can be used on more PCs, but it also means screen mirroring. It will require the cooperation of mobile phone manufacturers. Because Microsoft and Samsung are close partners, this technology giant cooperated with Samsung to develop the Link to Windows function that works via Wi-Fi and deeply integrates it into one.

During the initial setup process, Windows 10 was connected to Samsung mobile phones via Bluetooth. Still, the delay between using Wi-Fi-based technology to stream applications to desktop devices directly was also reduced due to the special drivers built into OneUI.

This integration not only uses Bluetooth because it also uses Wi-Fi and custom drivers to reduce latency to achieve a smooth streaming experience. Close cooperation makes Android applications streaming faster and more reliable. It is reported that this requires OEM manufacturers to install drivers in the firmware or ROM of their mobile phones to realize the application streaming function of Windows 10 may also appear.
On other non-Samsung hardware, these companies must install drivers and enable integration.
