AK1 N95 BIOS - needs mod.

Post by ring1956 »

I have bought KAMRUI AK1Plus Mini PC Intel 12th Gen Celeron N95 CPU. It appeared to be very slow compared to analog. I found using Throttlestop that CPU power is limited by BIOS to 8 w instead of 15 w in analog, thus CPU frequency is limited to 2.7 Ggz instead of 3.4 (Intel page). I’ve made a BIOS dump by fptw64, but I don’t understand how to mod it. I tried AmiBCP 5.02, but I have never used it before. It is a very common problem with Chinese PC. Maybe somebody knows how

It's likely that the CPU's power has been locked down to keep it from getting too hot, which can easily happen in small form factor PCs like this.
W8 Pro • GK1 • AK3 • AM02 • T6 Pro • AMR5 • GK3 Pro • AD03 • AM06 Pro • T8 Pro • S1 • T8 Plus • CK10

I described very similar situation with NIPOGI AK1Plus N100 here viewtopic.php?t=4767
To unlock power limit You can try to modify Power Limit 1 & 2 options in two places in bios (Power Management Control & Power Management Control -> View/Configure Turbo Options).
Try to set bigger value eg: 15000 (it means 15w max power)
But I think it will lead you to another issue with CPU overheating...
