New AM06 5800U install

AceMagician's tech support seems to be very good so I'm hoping someone can help with issues I'm having. I ran a Windows 11 update on a brand new AM06 Pro 5800U which found quite a few updates that needed to be downloaded and installed.

The monitor worked perfectly fine after the updates, the display adjusted and filled the screen appropriately until I accidentally shut off the monitor, now it's back to an oversized display.

My Harman Kardon speakers do not work when plugged into the audio jack.

Both of these items worked perfectly fine in Windows11 on my old desktop.

These sound like driver issues to me but I'm not real sure. In the olden days you would uninstall the device and then reinstall it but I don't know if that's the case anymore.

Also, I wasn't allowed the opportunity to log into my existing Windows account ever. So not real sure what to do there.

This could be a bug with windows update
1. Try to update the graphics card driver through the AMD graphics driver
2. There is no sound in the audio, you can switch the output source in Settings-Sound-Switch
3. Reset the system
4. Reinstall the system.

travellife,

I don't have this particular model so I can't make any recommendations of specific drivers to try, but if both the display and audio drivers updated with the Windows Update, I'd give rolling them back in the Device Manager a try. If the display and audio problems are related to updated drivers, this may help to solve the problem. You could also try what barry suggested. I was just presenting this as another option.

With the Microsoft account thing, that's definitely weird. You could try signing into it via the Accounts section in Settings. I think that's where to look, but I'm not home right now and I'm using a W10 laptop, so I'm not positive. Again, this is just presented as another option. barry knows a LOT more about these computers than I do.

Thank you both for your suggestions. I ended up resetting the computer and now the display fits the monitor but only at 1600x1200 and it is capable of 1920x1080 which is the recommended setting under System/Display. The HDMI cable included with the computer wasn't working so I'm using one that is HDMI version 2.0. For now the display has 2" wide black margins on the left and right sides and the resolution is a bit blurry.

Previously I was using this HP 2159m monitor on a HP Pavilion Elite e9140f desktop computer. Both were purchased in 2009, I've updated the system over the years and was running Windows 11 flawlessly (at least until the most recent Windows 11 May update). That computer came with a dedicated ATI Radeon HD 4650 graphics card with 1 GB dedicated memory and I had the monitor connected with a VGA to VGA cable. I just read an article that if you're using HDMI to HDMI with this particular monitor it over scans and causes the kind of display issues I'm experiencing. So I'm thinking a simple HDMI to DVI (the monitor has a DVI-D port) or HDMI to VGA adapter could solve this issue. Would appreciate any feedback you have to offer regarding which adapter I should go with.

The speakers are working properly after reviewing the sound settings on the computer.

In this case, there may be a problem with the graphics card driver; check the device manager for driver exceptions? Or download graphics card driver update from AMD official website: https://www.amd.com/en/support
Notice:
1. If an error is reported when running [AMD graphics card driver], it may be that the Windows update is still in progress, and it will be normal to run [AMD graphics card driver] after the update is completed.
2. It is not recommended to use an adapter cable (HMDI to VGA, HDMI to DVI, or DP to other interfaces) to connect to the display. We have tested that using an adapter cable may cause missing images, flickering screens, blurred screens, and black screens. Appear.
If the HDMI cable in the accessory fails, you can contact the service specialist of the Amazon seller.

I downloaded the graphics driver update using the link you provided and it didn't solve the problem. I've contacted AMD support and they had me provide a couple of system files which they've studied and found no conflicts. They are also thinking an adapter may work, HDMI to VGA or HDMI to DVI.

I purchased this directly from AceMagician. I have a working HDMI cable that I'm using instead of the one included with the computer since that one is not working.

Thank you for your help with this.

LG
