I just got the AD15 and was a little surprised it was only a SATA SSD, will it accept and work with a NVMe drive?

SSD supports M.2 NVME/NGFF protocol, adaptive.

Yes, gen3 and gen4 nvme drives will work, but gen4 may get too hot. gen3 should be fine.

Hi,
If I install a gen4 nvme which has backward support for gen3 (cruical p5 plus for instance ) will It be safe ?
Can I use an nvme module which had an hestsink?
Thanks

It would probably be fine, but you'd want to keep an eye on the temps. If you already have one to try, I would do so, but if you have to buy one, I'd wait for a confirmation from barry777 or the admin.

AD15 is a Pcie 3.0 hard disk slot, of course, you can also use a Pcie 4.0 SSD, but the transmission speed can only be the speed of Pcie 3.0;
Heat sinks can be installed, and the height is controlled within 90mm. If it exceeds, the side panel may not be installed.

Thanks for your reply.
After such a replacement to nvme based ssd I would like to utilize the M.2 sata module provided as storage extension.
Can I plug the m.2 module in the sata 2.5 interface? If the answer is no can I use any type of adapter to assist in such conversion?
Thanks

No, you can't plug an m.2 drive into a 2.5" SATA slot. You're also likely going to have a difficult time finding an SATA to m.2 adapter, if they're even made. You're better off just buying a 2.5" SSD.

Hi,
So I have finally found the time to upgrade to crucial p5 plus nvme 1TB add instead of the sata m.2 shipped with the product.
I cloned the os to the new nvme ssd using a dedicated pocket adapter.
All went fine and when I have completed and switched the nvme card to be onboard and reset the device I couldn’t complete the windows boot. Bios load was perfect.
I got an error (BSod) with an error saying “inaccessible boot device …”.
After scratching my head for a long time I came across this thread https://superuser.com/questions/1640562 ... 48_1640566
And was able to solve the issue.
Apparently when you install windows on sata it will optimize drivers load on boot and won’t load nvme drivers…
To solve it I rebooted in safe mode and ran the command mentioned in the thread and now all is working.
Hope this will help someone else one day.
