AD03 Unable to Connect using WiFi 5GHz Band

I have been seeing abysmal performance from the Realtek WiFi adapter in this unit, and now I understand why: It refuses to connect using the 5GHz band.

I have tried connecting to an Eero router, an ASUS router, and a Netgear access point. It will not connect to any of them on the 5Ghz band, even if I am within 10 feet of the router or access point.

Has anyone else observed this with this model?

Follow-up: I was able to resolve the issue by specifically selecting a WiFi mode for the adapter to use. It's still abysmal performance, but at least I can connect to a 5 GHz band now. I'm still waiting for an answer to my previously posted question as to whether the Realtek adapter can be replaced by an Intel adapter. I have not cracked the box open yet so I don't yet know if this is an M.2 card. If so, I'm mist interested in knowing if it can be replaced with either an Intel AX200 (WiFi 6) or AX210 (WiFi 6e) adapter.

Same issue with a CK10 (i5-11320H). Connects easily to the 2.4G band with okay speed. Would not connect to 5G at all until I forced the Realtek to use it at your suggestion. Then download speed 1/2 the 2.4G was. I need to try a few different locations to see how much that is impacting me, but not a good start.
My son had a laptop with similar crappy wifi adapter issues. Finally replaced it for $8 and everything came alive. Only day 3 with this so I haven't gone poking around inside to see if it's a PCB w connector or soldered on.

Hi,

At least for me WIFI has been working ok. Is just a single spatial stream ( theory 433Mbps) . Getting around 250Mbps max down close to my router a TPlink AX21. I do have the 2.4 and 5g bands as separate ssids. The wifi card is a M2 . See attached picture

. I would think you can replace it .

AD03 can support Intel AX200 module

Thank you for the responses. The picture was especially helpful. My pictures I have seen of the Realtek show it with only one antenna connection, whereas the Intel adapters require two connections. But in the picture provided I clearly see that it has two connections. I'm going to advise my fried to swap this Realtek module with an Intel.

Thanks again for the help.

I just received an ACE Magician Mini PC AK1 PRO. Same issue. Wi-Fi is impossible. Only worked off my phone tethering right beside ACE machine. Cannot see any 5G networks at all and wont even connect to 2.5Ghtz router is 10 FT away. I am using it with a LAN cable and it is great. I guess I have to send back and try another brand now. Too bad because it is great on LAN Cable.

try downloading these drivers.
They are most updated for Win 11 and fix some bugs.

@eros23, thanks a lot for the link to the driver... I'm on Windows 11 and the speedtest was really poor 05-3 Mbps/s, connection to websites really slow and after your driver I'm back to normal 30-40Mbps/s.
