Question regarding AD03 power requirements

Post by hsehestedt »

A friend of mine just ordered an AD03 today but is asking me a question as the local "tech expert" that I cannot answer. His goal is to make a fairly compact portable unit by attaching the mini PC to a VESA mount on a monitor. He wants as few power "bricks" as possible. We know that the AD03 uses a 12V adapter but we were wondering if it can safely accommodate a 19V power supply. If so, he would be able to use a single AC adapter to power both the monitor and the mini PC.

So, what we need to know is:

1) What range of voltages are acceptable for use with the AD03?

2) How many watts does the AD03 require?

Thanks!

Hello,
1. Power adapter input 100~240V 50/60Hz 0.8A Max;
2. The adapter is 12V/2.5A is 30W, 12V/3A is 36W;
3. The interface type is: 5.5/2.5mm DC Jack

I'd make sure to specify that you're referring to the adapter and not the unit itself.
W8 Pro • GK1 • AK3 • AM02 • T6 Pro • AMR5 • GK3 Pro • AD03 • AM06 Pro • T8 Pro • S1 • T8 Plus • CK10

I appreciate the responses; however, I think that what I was looking for was not correctly understood.

I was hoping to get an idea of what range of voltages are safe for use with the AD03 unit itself. For example, another manufacturer of Mini PCs specifies that any voltage from 12V to 19V is safe for use with their PCs.

The reason for this is simple: The monitor being used with the PC uses 19V. If I knew that 19V was safe to use with the AD03 then I could eliminate one AC Adapter and use a single 19V adapter to power both the monitor and the mini PC, so long as I use an adapter that can supply sufficient power to handle both the PC and the monitor at the same time.

12V to 19V is typical for a lot of Mini PCs. My goal was to determine if that is the case with AD03 or if only 12V is supported.
