AK1 Running slow and hanging on intensive websites. Is Ram upgrade possible?

Post by bouthie »

Can I upgrade my 4GB ram on my AK1? My unit seems to be bogging down on more graphic intensive websites. For example 3d interactive ski maps make the computer choke. Or if I have to many open windows open youtube will not run properly. If Ram isnt the answer are there other suggestions? Could it be a slow network connection?

Unfortunately, no. The RAM in the AK1 is a permanent part of the system board, so there's no way to upgrade it.

A slow network connection could most definitely affect anything that's bandwidth intensive. I'd run a few speed tests to see if your speed is good. It's also possible that the system is being somewhat overloaded, especially when the activities are graphics intensive, which a 3d interactive ski map likely is. An updated graphics driver, if one is available, may help. As mentioned in your other topic, download and run the "Intel Driver & Support Assistant" from Intel to see if one is available.

As always, make sure to backup your system, which I'd advise doing before installing any drivers the tool may find.
