GK3V (GK1_V61A 2022_0303) no POST or BIOS setup visible on HDMI

Post by Willyarma »

I have just bought a GK3V Mini PC.
At first I thought it wasn't working at all because I got no display but after messing about for a while I managed to get a display via VGA.
I managed to get HDMI working in windows.

However the PC never displays the POST screen or BIOS setup screen on HDMI, I can only get it to work on VGA.
I have tried with several monitors and TVs.
I have attempted to reset the BIOS.

My board is a GK1_V61A 2022_0303 and the BIOS reports it as GK1V61 0.01 x64

This is very frustrating and I do hope there is a fix for this as I intend to use HDMI.

Also where are the BIOS files for this board? the ones on git-hub only go up to V26.

This is bizarre, it works if I use a HDMI splitter!
None of my other PC's need this.

Is it only the POST or BIOS screens, and once it boots into Windows it shows?

The reason I ask is that the same thing happens with my AMR5. If I need to do something in the BIOS or F7 Boot screen, I have to connect it to an older monitor or my TV in order to see them.

For some reason my monitor just doesn't detect the basic output from those screens, but does fine once Windows itself starts booting and using the driver for the GPU.

Edit: I misspoke, it's my AMR5, not my GK3 Pro that does this. Still, it's the same issue.

Yes exactly.

And even with the splitter it's really finicky, if I unplug the monitor from the splitter, sometimes I cannot get the display back again.

My apologies. As noted in my edit above, I misspoke. It's my AMR5 that's doing this, not my GK3 Pro. Still, it's the same issue, nonetheless.

Hopefully the admin or someone else will have some advice on what can be done to rectify the issue, or at least suggest an easy way to get around it so it works the way it should.

Is there any update on this issue as I am having exactly the same problem but I can’t even get the display operational on VGA. I only ever see just the Windows login. No POST or BIOS visible at all.

Our tech says you need to switch the monitor's mode to HDMI mode, and I'm not sure if that's the problem.

I have a GK3V also. It was working well both in VGA as HDMI.
But when enabled secure boot at bios, it started getting out of sync in vga, but working in HDMI. if I plugged the VGA monitor, it get a out of sync message at the monitor. Then disabled secure boot, and get working.

But yesterday, my daugther changed the bios configuration, and then I tried to plug the hdmi to be able to disable the secure boot, but now, it is not working anymore the vga output, even when disabling the secure boot.

Maybe a firmware update may help?

tchadrack,

On the 'Save & Exit' page of the BIOS try loading the Default settings, then make sure to Save the changes on Exit and see if it helps after the unit starts. Actually, once it boots to Windows after the BIOS settings change, it may be a good idea to restart the unit again, just to ensure it's starting with those Default settings. Hopefully this will undo whatever was changed and get you back to where it was working.

I was having the same issue but blind luck seems to have solved it for me. Don't ask me why. I run Linux Mint on Kamrui GK3V.

My BIOS order had long ago been set to boot first from USB, then the HDD. I was not able to see any BIOS screen on HDMI. Once it got to the OS welcome screen, everything was good.

I did nothing other than plug in a bootable USB. And waited, and waited and waited- like ten minutes. Nothing. So I unplugged and rebooted.

Magically, the BIOS screen was now appearing! And even more, after confirming my desired boot order and saving the settings (didn't change anything), everything works again. I can boot from USB. I can see the American Megatrends BIOS screen at POST, and I can boot into my Linux Mint OS on my HDD no problem.

Weird. All I did was plug in a bootable, wait ten minutes, unplug it, reboot and everything was fixed. I have NO IDEA why; like I said BLIND LUCK.
