I very much like my AM06 Pro, but the one thing that was always in the back of my mind while using it was that it would get quite warm. Now I know that CPUs have built in thermal protection, and with the exception of low cost, low power models, today's CPUs tend to run warmer than they used to, but the thought would always still be there.
I discovered that by changing the Maximum processor state in the Power options from 100% to 99%, there is significant difference. This is because, by doing so, it basically disables the Boost feature of the CPU, so at most it runs at the maximum base clock speed. For the Ryzen 5 5600U in my AM06 Pro this means 2.3GHz instead of 4.2GHz. Now if you do things for which the Boost feature is needed, it's a bad idea to do this, but for those of us who don't, it can make a big difference in the heat. As an example, when running Prime95 with it at 100%, the temps would get up into the mid 80s. While running it with the max state at 99%, the temps hit the mid 60s. That's a huge difference. And it now idles in the mid/upper 40s.
I just figured I'd mention it for those who are like me and don't really need the Boost feature for anything.
I think I'm going to do the same thing with my AMR5.
Lastly, again, today's CPUs run hotter than yesterday's, and they have thermal protection that lowers the clock speed if they reach a certain temp, so doing this is a choice. It's not something that's necessary. I just have a personal preference for lower CPU temps, and not having the higher clock speed available doesn't affect me.
