Re: Conducting Research on Mini PC Model Preferences

Totally agree with you about the tipping factor, Gabe. I mentioned it before about stability. It was just more of a uniqueness in design, that I like the looks of vertical/standing systems better. However, considering how many large PCs come as towers, I guess that's less unique than I suggest. End ...

Re: Conducting Research on Mini PC Model Preferences

I'm going to vote on both the Google form, and this forum thread. However, I feel it requires more of a discussion, rather than a simple "A or B" answer. I like the look of vertical standing systems like the AMR5. It has a wider base and feels stable as it stands. For my purposes, vertical...

Re: RAM upgrade

TVHD, thanks for testing 32GB of RAM. I know Intel's official docs claim only 16GB is supported, but we've seen many times where people can go beyond the officially tested limits of computing.

I'm sure 32GB of ram in an S1 would make it a pretty powerful little system!

I wonder why so many people are able to post as Guest, without logging in. It makes following the conversation difficult.

Re: AM06 No audio HDMI

I just posted some other generic suggestions in a similar thread: https://minipcunion.com/viewtopic.php?f=95&t=4994&p=14136#p14136 Make sure you provide further details on what you've tried and what kind of speakers you use for output. It also wouldn't hurt to test an audio-out port if your ...

Re: AM07 HDMI Sound no longer working. Any ideas?

I don't have this model, but I've had audio issues like that before. Sounds like you've done some general troubleshooting, but some suggestions: The Windows troubleshooter has proven itself to work about 10% of the time, but it doesn't hurt to try. It typically restarts the related driver services, ...

Re: Function of "USB-HiSpeed-SERIAL-A CH347 (COM3)"

Yeah, it's pretty clear we won't get any other guidance on something intended for internal use only. In general, COM devices are old generation technology, like Serial and Parallel ports from decades ago, used for low speed connections and debugging via terminal logs. I'm not surprised to find out s...

Re: Function of "USB-HiSpeed-SERIAL-A CH347 (COM3)"

Thanks for the details. I did some searches for VID_1A86 and PID_55DD, and found a few references to people who had this chip in programming Arduinos. You can download the drivers directly from the Microsoft Update Catalog: https://catalog.update.microsoft.com/ScopedViewInline.aspx?updateid=6dcf342e...

Re: Function of "USB-HiSpeed-SERIAL-A CH347 (COM3)"

TVHD, I don't have that model, so I doubt any of my systems will have this specific hardware in it. I've checked a couple already, and found nothing similar. How does it show up in Windows Device Manager? Its Hardware Ids, etc? If it's used for internal debugging, it was probably a connection for an...

Re: New SSD install

Hi Darkmagician, I had to recently reinstall Windows on my AMR5. First important thing is, does the BIOS recognise the device? If it does, you should be able to boot off of a Windows USB drive and install from there. You can build your own from Microsoft, or use the files found in these forums: http...
