We have been buying timetec memory and had fairly good luck. Note you can get a bad batch once in a while so make sure to run a diagnostic on the new memory.

Realtek is a PITA with networking driver support in general (linux or Windows). I had one where it would take down the entire network when I connected a laptop with a realtek chipset to it. Can you try running the commands lspci and lsusb in the terminal ? One of these should identify the wifi chipset.
